5 secrets on how to stay motivated at work

Motivation is rather elusive. Some days you may feel a surge of motivation and energy, and other days you are in a slump. By having a balanced work life both inside and outside the office, motivation can easily be achieved. It is important for employees to find ways to remain motivated and interested in their jobs. We have 5 tips and tricks that will help inspire you in no time.

Spend time with co-workers

Becoming friends with your colleagues is a great way to stay motivated. By getting to know your colleagues on a personal level, you are able to learn about their backgrounds and future plans. This might inspire you or even spark a new interest as you are surrounded by like-minded people.

Be sure to regenerate

Get plenty of sleep! Employees are recommended to get a decent amount of sleep each night. Not only does sleep re-energise you, but also has the ability to help relieve stress. In addition, it is also important to take breaks during work. If you are overwhelmed with a task, just remove yourself from your desk and relax. Come back when you are feeling re-energised and pumped to tackle the workload in front of you.

Create small achievable goals

When you are assigned a large project but are unsure where to begin, simply break down the tasks into small achievable goals. By doing so, you will be able to cross tasks off quicker as you are able to handle the workload. By setting goals, you have something to work towards. You will constantly try and improve your work which in turn helps you stay motivated.

Ask for feedback

Feedback can be scary however it is extremely motivating. Feedback can serve as a motivator, by receiving good feedback you are more likely to amp up your work and continue to strive to do better. Negative feedback can assist those who are not performing well as it will help motivate individual’s to change their performance.

Reward yourself

Celebrate your wins. Go ahead and reward yourself for the little victories as it is harder to stay inspired when the end goal is far away. By celebrating the small wins, you are able to constantly move forward as no matter how small those wins may seem, they can boost your work life tremendously.  Harvard Business Review stated, ‘If a person is motivated and happy at the end of the workday, it’s a good bet that he or she made some progress.’
